Unhappy No IP address on eth0

Hey guys , I got some big problems. I have installed Ubuntu 11.04 on my laptop and I use ADSL modem connect to Internet. Now I cannot get IP address on eth0 but ppp0. Could you help me ? I need eth0 to connect with my virtual OS on virtualbox. By the way , I cannot use Host-only Adapter with Oracle VM Virtualbox. Error prompted : no host-only network adapter is selected. Any help is appreciated.

Ubuntu has a Network Manager applet installed by default. Open it up, and assign a IP address for eth0. I'm guessing you want IPv4 address, you already have a number of IPv6 addresses assigned to that interface.

I wish I could tell you, exactly, however, I have had nothing but trouble with Network Manager applet. I removed it, installed WICD, and all my problems with Ubuntu networking were gone. I'm not suggesting you go that route, at least not now.

Network Manager is launched by default on Gnome AFAIK. If its running, look at the top bar ( assuming you have things in the default location, its either in System-->Preferences or System Administration. It should give you a tabbed applet, you can configure wired and wireless connections with it. Network Connections; click it and see what it shows you.

Not sure what you are asking here. Can you expand your question?
