no internet connection

dear all

i deleted a couple of users thru yast, among them one called gnats. now the internet connection doesnt work anymore. yast even gave me a red window asking if i really want to delete, but i already had pressed enter. is there any way i can fix that?

i got linux suse 6.4

in the meantime i made the user with yast again, but still no connection

the story contimues:

i found an old passwd file, and copied the gnats line to the new passwd file, with correct user number and that sort. still no connection.
