NIS Help Required

I'm trying to set up a NIS server on the above operating system and have run into a problem.

i m using RHEL 5

i av used system-config-authentication and checked the NIS

and restarted the system

but now while booting it is showing

Updating Passwd.byname
failed to send 'clear' to local ypserv: RPC: Unknown host
Updating Passwd.byuid
failed to send 'clear' to local ypserv: RPC: Unknown host

and repeating it and not booting

what to do
to boot system correctly plex tell

unknown host would just imply a dns issue... can you ping the server by name?
