NIC not working - it used to though....

I just downloaded Vector 3.2 SOHO and so far I have to say that I really like it, very much. It is very similar to slackware and that's where I've been wanting to go towards (something more true to the Linux / UNIX OS and not a Red Hat variation) I'm using Mandrake 9.0 right now, but I'm trying different distros on my old PC and so far Vector may actually get put on my main! I like it a lot! I had a mouse config problem, but I got that working from some earlier posts.

Here's one that I can't figure out though. I'm running 3.2 SOHO on an old Compaq workstation. It's a PII 266 w/ 228 MB RAM. I has a built in Compaq NIC 10/100 port.

I open up the info center, and choose PCI. I see this..

00.10.0 Network controller: compaq Computer Corporation Integrated Neteligent 10/100 (rev 10)
Flags: medium devsel, IRQ 11
I/O ports at 1020 [size=16]
Memory at 40900000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16]
Expansion ROM at <unassigned> [disabled] [size+64K]

and here's my problem. I run a small LAN using a Linksys BEFSR41 4-1 router. on the system that I just loaded vector on, I had Win2K on and everything was working. Now, my lights are not lit up on my router for that system and I have no network connection either internet, or LAN communication either. I have switched cables and they are in working order.

I'm trying to give as much info as I can because I know how frustrating it is to get a help me post that has no info.

Anyone have any ideas on this? Thanks!

As far as I know the driver for Neteligent NIC is tlan. So try
modprobe tlan
The LED should be on after you do this. Then you can assign IP number for the card etc.
