I have a Broadcom BCM571 working just fine with kernel module tg3. Do lsmod to see if tg3 is loaded. If not, then modprobe tg3 to see if that helps.

Thank you for your input bigrigdriver. I found and downloaded the bcm5700 driver from Broadcom and installed it. It seems to be working fine now. By "bootloader recognition" of the NIC. I guess that I meant to say that you can configure Kudzu to bring up the NIC card (eth0) during the boot process. Prior to the installation of the Broadcom dirver, I would get a message during the boot process stating that the NIC could not be found. I am new to Linux and probably explianed this incorrectly. Thanks.
