NFS Locking problem: starting "rpc.statd " gives error message

Hi,

I am getting the NFS message : "No locks available"

I checked the process "rpc.lockd" and "rpc.statd"

% ps -ael | grep lockd
I got the above command output

% ps -ael | grep statd
This output remains blank, confirming some problem.

I tried to manually start the process from my root loging as :

%/sbin/rpc.statd
I am getting the error as : statd: Could not chdir: NO such file or directory.

What steps am I missing ? Please help.

Thanks,
Om
