Networking to XP

I have an older computer that I had lying around that I have decided to make into my linux box. My dad doesn't especially like my messing with the computer, and the stupid proprietary sound card in the new dell just irks me. I am going to use the main computer as a router for the second, I have an Asante switch and an extra ethernet card to do it. I would do it the other way around, I know it is more secure to have the linux box open to attack, but I don't want anything to change on the new computer, and I also want to be able to do net installs for quicker distro changes when I'm experimenting. (I have DSL, it isn't an always on connection and requires a username and password, which I haven't been able to figure out with SuSe or Debian (Which I ended up doing by installing the core system and then doing the pppoe conf or whatever, it took alot of explaining on forums to get it done!). Anyway, thanks for the help.

Nathan

I solved my own problem by removing the extra card from the windows box and putting it into the Linux box. I am going to use firestarter to share the connection. Is it better to manually assign the ip address or do it by dhcp? I'm planning on dhcp for now, it seems to be the best solution.
