I have problem with eth0 on my Debian (stable). The only thing that works is plain 'surfing' (through proxy as usual).
But I need ftp for updates, ssh, etc.. and they don't work (they used to).
Also, strangely, eth0 reports: TX bytes:0 (0.0 B)
If I dualboot windows or use virtualbox, everything is fine. So the problem is in Debian. What could it be?
unfortunately, it seems this has not been resolved after all. all interface commands take long time to complete (route, netstat,...)
and I can ping only localnetwork. its as if gateway has not been set. (but it has):

edit: hm the reason for slow response time is that DNS server is on different subnet. (commands are fast when displaying ip address). but I still cant get any packets through default gateway
I've tried puppylinux livecd and it works normally with eth0.

I think this one has finally been cleared. For some reason, ARP cache of default gateway was completely wrong. Could be the case of some 'arp poisoning' or something like that.
edit: is there a way to set arp so that it doesn't change?
