I'm using redhat 7.3,and i have 2 Ethernet cards worked properly,but since I installed the mosfet liquid theme in kde,both of my cards don't work anymore.I can't connect with ADSL using eth0,and worse,when I entered "ifconfig eth1 up",my linux box told me eth1 is not found!!!then I checked /dev directory,I found there're no eth0 and eth1 in it!!!!!please help!thanx
There wouldn't be a /dev/eth0 -- that is set in /etc/modules.conf. There's supposed to be a alias setting, e.g. in my file
alias eth0 eepro100
telling the kernel to use that driver for the ethernet card. I find it hard to imagine that the installation of a new theme would screw up these settings, but you never know. Anyway, watch your /var/log/messages file for errors with eth0 and eth1. And look at the modification date of the modules.conf file if something changed on the day you did that install.
thank you very much mlp68.though my linux is ok now since i started my linux today, and i didn't do anything,it just came back to life.but I really wanna thank you for your help,it helps me a lot in understanding how linux works.
