I am having issue with an NetGear FS105 Switch with the system I am using. The leds on the switch don't light up to recognize the host, but when plugged in with the same setup but with a differnet system it works. Also, the system in question works on other switches and etc., but doesn't work with this FS105 switch. Even if the autoneg or etc.. isn't set correctly it should still light up the port on the switch, correct? Or do I need to setup the nic with mii-tool or ethtool for the correct configuration of the nic (10baseT-FD, etc....). Thanks.
the FS series of switches i've always found to be very robust and simple, you shouldn't need to configure anything at all on the server side, but looking at what you said above, i'd be looking at the physical nic, have you tried it on a different switch? using ethtool to set 100 full wouldn't be a bad thing for sure, but shouldn't be needed against those decent little guys.
