Need help with Gb NIC in Ubuntu
I purchased a D-Link DGE-530T Gb NIC for my Ubuntu file server since I have a D-Link Gb switch.
Apparently, the driver for the DGE-530T used to be skge in kernel 2.6.12 but got changed to sky2 in later kernels and people are having a bitch of a time getting it to work -- myself included.
I've tried downloading the linux headers for my kernel (2.6.15-26-k7) and recompiling the kernel but I constantly get a make error that I'm attempting to fix.
I've also tried the driver from the CD that came with the NIC and from D-Link's website but it keeps complaining that I don't have my headers installed even though I've pointed a symbolic link from /usr/src/linux to my kernel headers.
I've tried modprobing sky2 manually but that doesn't work either.
Any ideas? Anyone successfully get this card set up? I'd hate to have to buy a different one.
