need help setting up static route with iptables2

Hi,

I was looking for some help setting up a static route for a multihop wireless adhoc network.

Basically I have 3 adhoc stations
[STA1] ----- [STA2] ----- [STA3]

STA1 cannot reach STA3, therefore I want to route all packets for STA3 through STA2

Lets assign STA1: 192.168.1.1 ... STA2: 192.168.1.2 ..... STA3: 192.168.1.3

At STA1 i do:
Code:
ip route add 192.168.1.3 via 192.168.1.2
ip route flush cache
At STA3 i do:
Code:
ip route add 192.168.1.1 via 192.168.1.2
ip route flush cache
STA2 can ping both STA1 and STA3 successfully with no packet loss...

then when i try to ping STA3 from STA1.... no response

when i try to ping STA1 from STA3.... no response

any ideas?

Thanks!
George
