Need help!

Hello mates!

I am really new in this Linux thing, but I´ve just dual booted my commputer with XP and Fedora Core 2. But the thing is I´m havin problem connecting the internet with Linux. I connect with cable trough a router (ADSL). And when I try to activate in the network it always fail (I don´t remember the error code because I´m using XP now).

Can anyone tell me step to step how to activate my connection, or give me a link?

Thanx

CAT5 is a type of network cable

Do you connect a network card to an adsl modem to get access? Most adsl modems are configured to provide dhcp to their clients. You might want to try and setup your network card to use dhcp.

Not sure how this works on Fedora but on debian you have to put this in /etc/network/interfaces

iface eth0 inet dhcp

Hope this helps.

what type of network card do u have installed ...is it recognised there are 2 commands u can use to find out
lspci this will tell u what pci cards u have
ifconfig -a this will configure a network card

U then have 2 choices u can statically assign addresses for connection or u can use dynamic assigning (dhcp)
Firstly u must get your network card up and running :-)
