Need experienced helper.

Hello, I am looking to setup dedicated game servers via MDK on a 64 bit machine. I will have clients so I need different dirs. I have setup the game servers, now I just need help configuring remote admin tools. I am new to linux, and need a little bit of slack here, thank.s

I dont need web hosting, or anything like that.

1) I need my users to have ftp access, vsFTPd?
2) I need to beable to manage this server remotely.
3) I need my users to have remote management access to their specific server too, and not to
have access to root, only their /home/client1/ folder.
4) I need to know which ports have to be forwarded.

Thanks alot.

Hi,

1) for FTP access... I don't know enough to give you advise
2) To manage a server remotely, SSH is a very good solution
3) well, always SSH... and also a good user permission management
4) About port forwarding we need to know more... for example do you need to do port forwarding for FTP and SSH too? Which server game do you run because Steam does'nt use the same ports as Quake or UT...

Hi,

Yes I've got links
http://kimmo.suominen.com/docs/ssh/ an excellent starting point
http://www.linuxforum.com/linux_tutorials/16/1.php explains you how to basicly configure your SSH server
http://www.linuxforum.com/linux_tutorials/18/1.php is about SSH and keys to authenticate
http://www.math.toronto.edu/admin/ssh.html if you wanna connect SSH server from windows, MAC or another platform
