My ongoing problem

I think the reason why I'm not really getting any answers to my questions, is maybe because I'm not being descriptive enough.

Let me try giving you the entire story.

I'm kind of a newbie to Linux so please bear with me.

As far as I know, there are different ways to install software on a Linux system (source, rpms, binaries).

When I set up the Operating System (Fedora Core 1), I selected the options to also install Apache, MySQL, PHP, and most of everything else.
When you do it this way, it installs it for you via the RPM method.

Everything was working fine at this time including the secure web server (https).

Well for some reason, when php was installed, it wasn't installed with the "mysql functions". This means I needed to re-do php with the --mysql flag.

I don't know how to re-compile php and apache with the RPM version, so I de-installed the php and apache rpms using rpm -e.

I then re-installed php and apache using source distributions (I did this so I can re-compile using the --mysql option).

Now everything works besides the secure server (https). I could get it to work perfectly fine without the secure server when I start it with "apachectl start", but when I try "apachectl startssl" I get the following error messages.

Any help is really appreciated. Thanks.

root /usr/local/apache2/conf-> /usr/local/apache2/bin/apachectl startssl

(98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address [::]:443

no listening sockets available, shutting down

Unable to open logs

root /usr/local/apache2/conf->

No, the reason you are not getting an answer is because your subject is not descriptive enough.
