MTU

How do I force ip packets to be always less than MTU and avoid fragmentation.

can you detail your problem better please? A system will not allow itself to send packets smaller than it's own MTU. the MSS value for TCP is also often used to define packet sizes on TCP.

MTU

After the upgrade of our server, ip packets going down to link layer from tcp stack got lot bigger than mtu.
This caused a significant slow down on client side due to server getting faster.

I was able to solve it by turning off the generic segmentation offload (gso) for the eth interface and slowing down the server.

Thanks
