LinNeighborhood is a network neighborhood equiv for browsing windows shares on the linux side.

i'd advise you to steer clear of linneighborhood, delibertaley trying to use windows paradigms is a bizarre idea. you *SERIOSULY* do not need to pretend you're using windows do you? search this site for "smbfs fstab" and i'm sure you'll get many mnay solutions. The whole point of mounting shares is that they then appear local... there's no need to have a pointless network browser if you're only after a couple of other machines. there are more benefits if you're stuck with a hundred win98 machines on a network, but i doubt you're in that situation.

No I Don't ! Good point Acid.
I need to get a good grasp on this, so i can promote non-MS at work.

The whole reason i'm on a Linux box now, is that i'm sick a windows, and i only have MS on the others is so i can run certain non-unix/linux program(seldom).

I'll do some more searchin ( smbfs fstab)

thanks !
