modules.conf and netgear ma311

I know that there are many posts about this but i've read them all with no avail!!
I have Red Hat 8 and netgear ma311 wireless card. I can get the computer on-line by running /sbin/modprobe orinoco_pci but when i re-boot i have to re run the above command. So i edited the etc/modules.conf and added "alias eth0 orinoco_pci" (this is the only network device on the computer) but when i re boot i get i fails on starting wlan devices and failed to load p80211. What am i doing wrong?

You also have to have your system load the module as well.

Do you have this in your modules.conf file:

/sbin/modprobe orinoco_pci
alias eth0 orinoco_pci

The /sbin/modprobe line is useless, since the alias implies it.

What is exactly the error message? I don't know of any p80211 module.
If it is a symbol resolution issue, then get sure you have a 'depmod -a' properly done prior to loading the module.
