Hi ondoho,
thank you for your response.
As far as fish-shell is concerned: Yes, I use it deliberately. For me the whole concept if it makes really sense. I like it very much.
BTW: When using bash I get the same results as far as my problem is concerened.

Me neither.

is there a version mismatch between nm and mm?

Well, I was also thinking along those lines......

is your system fully updated

Yes, by all means.
Anyhow, in the meantime I contacted Till Kamppeter, the maintainer of ModemManager, via e-mail and asked him about possible incompatibilities between
ModemManager and
modem-manager-gui.
Background:
Quote:
As part of regular updates I received the latest version of
*ModemManager* 1.10.0-1~ubuntu18.04.2 on 2019-05-17.
This was exactly the point in time when *modem-manager-gui* (v.
0.0.19.1-1) stopped working. The GUI-interface wonīt open anymore and
I get the error-message:
"double free or corruption (out)".
My question is: Is it possible that the new version of *ModemManager*
could be responsible for this? Might there be any incompatibilities?

He answered me:

This is possible. We need to investigate this.
Please post a bug report on modem-manager for that. Thanks/

So that
might be it.
Iīd gladly post a bug report but have no idea what website is suitable for that.
Cheers
