Hi people,
I have a home network of 2 machines, both have mandrake 9.1 and win 98 on.
Both machines have a static address
machine 1 : - 192.168.0.2
machine 2 : - 192.168.0.3
I can share files via samba, and via a nfs mount (mandrake control centre - set nfs mounts) but i am having the following problems (on both machines)
- The lan browser on konquer doesn't see the other machines - in fact it sometimes crashes - is there a way to view a linux lan like network neightbourhood, i have linneighbour but that is only samba compatible
- When setting the nfs mount the other machine's name is displayed as the ip addresss instead of the proper host name - is that to do with dhcp - also it might be causing my last problem
- in multiplayer games, such as quake 3 , i cannot the other machine when browsing for servers . I actually have to put in the ip address to connect - what can i do to make my machines found?
Cheers everybody
