Question mkdir: cannot create multi-level directory

I use mkdir command to create such a directory: output/Linux/Log/BVT/date/
It failed.mkdir cannot create the directoryutput/Linux/Log/BVT/date/
Then I tried to mkdir output and then mkdir output/Linux......
And it successed.
Does anybody know how to check this problem?
Could anybody tell me where can I get error message?
Thank you!
