Migrating website from hosting to local

How difficult is it do transfer a website from a company that is hosting the website to a local server. I ask this because I have a client that wants me to transfer his website from his hosting company and put it on a local linux box running apache. I was thinking about taking the job but am hesitant in doing so.

Moving the site should be easy. If there are databases involved that is more work.

what about a website running on IIS server to an apache server. Is there any decent how to's that I can read or a decent book that I can maybe purchase for a better insight?
