mail -a would not work to send e-mail attachment

hy!

I have an old Suse Linux 7.3 /usr/bin/mail that does not know the option "-a". As i must send a file and could not send the text of the file in the mail i would need something like:

echo "Mail text" | mail -s "Subject" -a /path/to/file.txt mail@somebody.bla

On my new Suse Linux 8.2 everything works fine but the old /usr/bin/mail does say :

mail: invalid option -- a

What can i do ?

Do you have pine installed try using that
