MAC address from SUN Machine to Dell box

Hi,

I am trying to clone the MAC address and hostid from a SUN machine hosting important license tied to MAC address and hostid to a Dell 1750 Box(CentOS 4.6).

I managed to change the hostid and MAC address (in /etc/sysconfig/network-script/ifcfg-eth0). However, when i tried to restart the network , the error msg prompt out : Different MAC address detected, ignoring.

Can anyone please help me out? thanks!
