Losing Network card on reboot
I have a new Fedora 3 server with a token ring network card.
I installed the card using the network configuration tool in Gnome.
The device I selected was "IBM olympic based token ring" adapter.
I then setup the static IP address, subnet and the other details, activate and save and all is well and the card is functioning fine. The server can be pinged and connected to using various ports and protocols.
When the server is rebooted, the token ring device 'tr0' is no longer there, so typing: ifconfig tr0 192.168.0.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 up
reports device tr0 not found.
Once the server is up and running by recreating the card details in Gnome, a file appears: /etc/sysconfig/networking/devices/ifcfg-tr0 but isn't there on reboot.
The file is also in: /etc/sysconfig/networking/profiles/default and
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts
Can anyone tell me why the device settings aren't permanently stored and where I can put them, to ensure they load at boot time? Also, the command line syntax to load the device driver would be helpful.
I thought they should be loaded from /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit but maybe I'm wrong?
Many thanks in advance,
