Local and Remote X login

Using SuSE 8.0. I can login to the remote machine for dumb terminal. But I don't have a choice to use the local login for workstation.
I'm forced to reconfigure etc/sysconfig/displaymanager again for local only.
How can I create a choice menu for both remote X login and local workstation?

L.S.
