loading network card

Hi

My network card is not auto. loaded.
it's a 3com 3c59xx
In /etc/modules.conf
i have this line :
alias eth0 3c59x

How come ?
modprobe 3c59x does not always works???

Can you write more? What's the error message when it fails?

when i type modprobe 3c59x i just get a new line.
and some times the card is found.

It doesn't need to print that the card's found. Next line means success, too. What happens when you try to assign an IP number to the card?
