linux with bellsouth dsl

Here's my situation. I have a dual boot pc using windows xp pro and fedora core 3. I really don't know much at all about linux so please if you can help talk like i'm a 3 year old. Anyway, I have no problem connecting to the internet with windows xp. There are 2 computers connected to a router that connects to a bellsouth dsl modem. Windows Xp connects via dhcp.

The problem: I can't connect to the internet with linux. I've heard about roaring penguin ppp0e but don't know if that's right in my situation.

I don't know what eth0 is but it seems to be set up...

Please Help!!

eht0 = your 1st ethernet interface

http://www.voy.com/41165/ <-- the forum for Roaring Penguin

also, if u didn't already try to do a google for : "router name" "fedora core 3" and youll probably get some results, may want to try "router name" "fedora core 3" "dsl".

fedora core also has a forum / mailing list that may be of help.

from a fedora chat on a similar problem but with a different cause, "Have you checked system-config-network? " sounds like some type of graphical tool located in the menu perhaps.

here is the thread : http://fcp.homelinux.org/modules/new...=10307&forum=6

its very long and boring but may help your brainstorming (but probably isnt ur issue meaning, your problem probably isn't an IRQ conflict like the guy in this thread)

With a router you do not need to configure the Fedora box with pppoe. Use the network wizard and setup a lan connection using DHCP with eth0. Set the gateway IP address the same as your routers local i.e. internal IP address.
