Linux Networking Internet connections

Hello All,

I want to make a Linux Router,I have installed Redhat9.0 with 2 NICS,eth0 and eth1,

eth0=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx(External IP),
eth1=192.168.1.5
I have enabled ip farwarding.

echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward

I am having a DSL Line connected to Eth0,I am able to browse the internet properly on my Gateway Machine,
I am having 5 machines in my internal Network.

There are two methods to give internet connection to my internel netwok

1.Using the squid
2.Using IPtables NAT functionality

iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o eth0 -j MASQUERADE

I want to know are there any other methods,apart from using Squid or Iptables NAT to give internet connection to my internal hosts.

Thanks in Advance,
Surendra

Those are certainly the two main ways to go about it. If you weren't using private IP addresses, you could just route through the gateway without using NAT. So I can't think of any other way to send a networks request from your network to the outside world. In my case, if you didn't have any specific need for a proxy server, I would just set up NAT.
