Linksys Router: Slowing the internet...

hey.

I have been having a problem with the internet connection I've been getting. I've tried many things people have said on the forums after reading about 10 with the same (sorta) symptoms i have had.

I know it's the router though, not the network card. I've tried plugging the internet right from the box (cable) and it is BLAZIN'! The only problem is I need the router since i'm on a home network.

I have tried changing etc/resolv.conf, but when i re-start, it's back to it's default.
I've tried going "about:config" and changing firefox settings.

But when i have the router between the box and my computer (running ubuntu) it makes surfing... HORRIBLE

anyways, It's a linksys etherfast router... or something.

HELP!

What would /etc/resolv.conf have to do with slow internet connections?

Anyways, have you updated the firmware on the router? Have you tried just a hard reset?

as far as the resov.conf ... I think that is changed by dhcpd when it get an ip from your router (if this is how you have your network set up) so you need to configure the dhcp server to give out the correct dns information if you want to have it in your resolv.conf
