linksys router port question


hi fellas, i have a question about my linksys router, which is connected to a cable modem. im using a p2p software, and would like it listen to tcp/udp port, say 1024. how would i allow my router to accept connections to this port? using mandrake 9 btw.

From your router config panel, you should be able to use port forwarding (in advanced tab) and tell the router to point transmissions from 1024 to the computer that you are sharing on p2p. See if that helps, shouldn't be anything to do with Linux
