Less Restrictive Network?

How do I make Linux less restrictive on my computer? I can't run Bittorrent or WinMX or any other programs of the like because it seems like everything is blocked off. What can I do?

Well, if you're directly connected to the internet. it sure is iptables... actually it's a more "security-forum" question.
You simply should edit your iptables script
