ldap installation on redhat 9


i tried to install openldap rpm on a redhat 9.0 system. after changing the ldap.conf and the slapd.conf according to my own domain.we have a local domain runing on linux systems & our main server (i.e. the database, mail etc)also on a linux system.but i don't have a database present locally on my system. The ldap service is not starting(slapd not initializing).what to do?
