I have just recently installed SuSE linux 9.0. During the end of the install it asks whether you would like to enable VNC or not. I most certainly chose yes, at which point it clearly stated to direct any VNC client or browser with java installed to the ip address of host , port 5910.
VNC viewers work fine with the ip address:5910. With web browsers, nothing happens. The brower will say that it is opening the page and just sit there... waiting.
