I've used it successfully out of the box with absolutely no changes to the defaults. You can apply filters to the output, but I'm not aware of any real 'configuration' that is needed.

Question using filters and other configuration functions

Actually I want to use the filters and other configuration functions. But I don't know how to use them?

Suppose I want to see the bandwidth of my friend's PC in my network. How can I do that with iptraf?

In that case I recommend you have a look through the manual, specially the bit under "Defining a New Filter"

http://iptraf.seul.org/2.7/filters.html#TCPFILTERS
