Nov 8 06:06:16 localhost ifup: iptables: No chain/target/match by that name
Nov 8 06:06:16 localhost ifup: iptables: Table does not exist (do you need to insmod?)
can anyone enlighten me on this message and a possible cure. As far as i know the iptables are configured correct, and have not been moved from default locations. I'm running RH9 with a 2.4.20 kernel.

GT
Sorry for posting this again. i originally posted this in the security forum, but did'nt after several days, get an answer to my woes. Although one chap did tell me why i was getting the messages, (output from various ifup scripts running at boot) i didn't find a cure, or an answer to the big question of whether this means my iptables and/or firewall is running/in use etc.
this appears to be a default prob in RH9 as i've just done a fresh install of the system on an old laptop, and i get the same message there. thanks in advance to anyone who can help.
regards
GT

Sorry about that, i knew i would get dragged over the coals for it, but being a bit of a newb i'm not entirely sure where iptables probs should go, it appears to be one of those grey fluxy type areas. it's both a networking & security area is it not, seeing as thats what iptables do, they secure the network?!?!?!
i did leave it 4 days before trying another forum, and as there was no real discussion on the issue, there was no help to be contained hopefully my woes will be put to bed here. Any help with the matter would be greatly appreciated. TIA

thanks for those pearls of wisdom. i now know what that link is for, i thought it was for reporting people who swear and other immoral/unsocial behaviour. cheers.
while your here, any ideas on my dillema with the iptables?????? TIA
