Internet leased line bandwidth segmentation

We have a Internet leased line which i would like to split the bandwidth into 2. One is for VPN and another is for Internet browsing. Further, i would like to manage bandwidth i.e., 70% of bandwidth to VPN and 30% of bandwidth to Internet browsing. We are using Squid Proxy for Internet browsing.

Can anybody throw ideas?

Ekalavya.

I see 2 ways.

1. Using "tc" utility from iproute package. Check this tutorial http://luxik.cdi.cz/~devik/qos/htb/manual/userg.htm
2. Squid has the features to restrict the bandwidth. But it's done on another IP-level. I like "tc" more.

Thank you very much for your information.

I have one clarification before i try it out i.e., i already setup up VPN using netgear box and now i request you the order in which i should implement (linux box, netgear box, squid server and switch ports).
