The thing is I had dual operating system one is Xp and another one is Linux E.dtion 4. I had internet connection wich is provied by local provide he only give ip address, mask, defualt gateway wich is running fine with Xp operating system. wen I had given in the same in linux Edition 4 with same ip address, mask, default gateway in the internet configuration wizard. wen i ping with deault gateway is replying and also with ip. right now the internet connection is not able to view in the browser of mozialla. Can U give me steps how to connect the internet with local provider (ie just like a cable plug)in linux e.edition sot that i can view the yahoo.com sites etc.

Do you have your provider's DNS server IP address in the file:

/etc/resolv.conf ?


Note: I'm not familiar with anything called Linux Edition 4, but some (probably most) linux distributions do have this file in /etc.

just wire having plug wich is attached to usb backside of computer and browsing the internet in xp, all these for Ur information,no dns nothing.
