Installing wifi network

Hello,

I installed ubuntu-server on my laptop and after that I installed icewm. During the installation I was connected per lan on the net. But now I want to use my wifi on the laptop. After that I installed the network-manager and
I can connect to my router with my wifi. But during the boot process, when everything the pc is doing is written on the screen, I have to wait until 5 minutes to go further. In this time I think he is searching the network connection.
But to wait until 5 minutes is very very long. How can I overcome this problem? I think I should store the wifi connection at all. I can connect after login, that is no the problem.

regards.

What is the make/model of the laptop and what wireless chipset does it contain? (You can determine the latter bit of information by running the command lspci in a terminal; you may have to run the command as root.)

Not sure a common desktop install would care about connection or any wait for that. I've seen where someone put a domain name in the install and it tries to resolve.

With the networkmanager it works, but only after login.
