The wireless card appears to be installed and configured. Try disabling all security on the wireless router and see if you can connect. Obviously don't have a connection to the internet whilst trying this.

Linksys WMP11 wlan, linux 2008, Verizon WL424WR router

.......and in the end Nexus, the router was the problem.

last month, i used a D-Link wlan pci card in linux.
i had been trying some of the live distros.
it had not occurred to me that when i sampled eARos, Open SUSE, Free BSD, that i used the D-Link card at the time and accessed the internet each time.
i used this D-Link card in a Gateway 507GR P4 3GHz machine.
it would not work in the Dell Optiplex GX810 667MHz unit, so i thought i would try the linksys wmp11 wlan card.

turns out that the Verizon WL424WR router will only talk to Westell and
D-Link wlan cards.
someone will struggle with this problem in the furture.
posters that are using Verizon FIOS and a Verison wireless router should check the link below.

Verizon provides three routers in the FIOS service.
clicking on "User Guides", right above "Step 2", will take you to a page whick shows all of Verizon's routers as well as the third party
routers you can buy to use with the isp signal.

you can point them here:
http://www22.verizon.com/Residential...424/120427.htm.

i'm going back to square one to check from the first sticky.
the moderators probably posted this, and my head was in la la land.

thanks Nexus

At least you now know what the problem was. Thanks for posting a 'Heads Up' for other users.
