In suse, how does one prevent network adapters' drivers from loading during boottime?

Thanks in advance for any input.

In Redhat Linux, I can prevent any network adapters' drivers (modules) from loading during boottime by removing lines in /etc/modules.conf that contain words such as eth0, eth1, etc...

Is there a way to do the same in SUSE linux?

Thanks.

Yes. It is done in the same way in SuSE.

Thank you Steve for your reply.

I'm currently using sles 9.0. After a fresh installation, I found no such /etc/modules.conf file. I, however, found a comparable /etc/modprobe.conf. Unfortunately, commenting out lines that contain eth[0-9] in modprobe.conf does NOT prevent 3COM network adapter from loading during boot time.

Any other suggestion is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
-Albert.

Do u have this directory?: /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts. Check for ifcfg-eth0 in this directory.
If you do have it, vi ifcfg-eth0 and change the line from ONBOOT=yes to ONBOOT=no

hope it helps!
