If i remove /root/cpan do i lost all installed modules??

Hi, im kinda new using cpan, the problem is that is not working, i mean whenever i want to install any new module, i get connection timed out, conection refused, even when i have port 21 opened at the firewall, and i īve setted up ftp to run in passive mode. So as at cpan mailing i canīt get any help, i want to remove cpan directory and reinstall it again, but ill only do this if im not loosing installed modules with the removal.

Can anyone help me with this??

Thanks.
Emilio

Do you mean /root/.cpan?

You should just be able to blow it away and start again fresh. If you want to be 100% sure you don't lose any sources you downloaded then:
mv /root/.cpan /root/cpan-bak

Perhaps something else along the line is blocking you. Try:
ftp ftp.kernel.org
