Angry I am in PROXY HELL

HELP! I am having a real hard time with my redhat box talking with my proxy. I can get http, https, and FTP no problem. Strangely enough, when I try to load KMail or pretty much anything that uses the network where I can't tell it there's a proxy, it fails. I have set the proxy in KDE's configuration, and also sent the export=http_proxy=http://isasrv:8080 and, web and ftp work fine.

FYI -- I run ISA Server on a windows box <i know i know>
All my other machines are friendly with it, just this issue where synaptic, and my mail, and a handful of other apps don't work it really getting irritating... :P

I can't get any mail software to talk to my internal mail server, but I can telnet to it fine.

Any Ideas?

How does your routing table ('route' command as root) look like?

make sure that the traffic in the proxy configuration allow the transfer of data from internal to the mail server perhaps?

what is the setup of your proxy?

my proxy works fine and dandy with every friggin protocol except for this weird thing with the mail. If i can tell a program there's a proxy, it'll work. I have set in KDE that there is a proxy, and it works.

I'm running ISA Server on a winders box, and it gets along fine with the linux machines on my network. <i'm workin on gettin squid tuned, it comes with time.. >

It just makes no sense to me that evolution can talk to my mail server, but kmail and any other mail app just don't work...
