hping2 error after upgrade to 2.6

For some reason when I try to use hping2 on my 2.6 kernel I get a message even when I run as root or use sudo:

[send_ip] sendto: Operation not permitted

Can anyone tell me what may be causing that. I'm on slackware 10 with the 2.6.7 generic testing kerne?. I have also tried recompiling hping but to no avail. regular ping and other network tools like nmap work fine.

Sorry all, found out my firewall was blocking it for some reason. I have to turn my firewall off in order for it to work. If you still care to comment maybe give me an example rule that would allow hping outside network access.
