I just posted a HOW-TO blog entry on using grub2 to nfsroot.
This is a nice easy way to have an SSD serve as a fast OS drive for multiple computers, without having to set up tftp or a customized dhcp server. An SSD shared via gigabit ethernet is much faster than a spinning hard drive, especially for lots of little files.
I'm also pondering a modification which replaces the SSD nfs share with a ramdisk (tmpfs) nfs share stored strictly in RAM. That way, the server doesn't need an SSD, it just needs sufficient RAM to cram in an OS drive.
