How to make Samba server authenticate Linux client?

Dear all,

Anyone has idea about how to make Samba server authenticate a Linux client? everywhere on the information is about winbind winbind winbind, I need to figure out how about samba server authenticate a user from Linux machine?

If you have made the Samba server a PDC then the Linux client can logon to it in exactly the same ways that it uses an NT 4.0 server (Samba PDC emulates NT 4 PDC functions).

Samba is a good choice for mixed networks, but if the server and clients are Linux then Samba is redundent. The easiest and most secure way to connect to Linux server from a Linux client is through SSH. NFS for making directories on the server part of the client's filesystem ala Windows network drives, and CUPS for printing.
