Question How to create a DNS Server ?


Hi

I want to host my own web I've gistered the domain name well they say hat I need a DNS server to publish my web. How can I create a DNS server
I'm runing Slackware 10
cable internet ( I have a motorola cable modem.

Any sujection for a better router ?

ASUS
P4 2.6
1GB ddr
160GB HDD


Please any coments or referents sites

u mean u need webserver to host your site
Apache and bind should do the trick.

You're going to have a tough time running DNS on a cable connection if you're on DHCP. If your IP changes too often, you may be better off having a 3rd party do it for you like www.zoneedit.com.

it has very detailed instructions from installing slack all the way to having ur own mail and webserver. go to the Get a Net Presence menu to start the directions.

Most domain registrars do provide some limited DNS hosting services. With that you should be able to define your A and MX entries to point to your web and mail server and have mail delivered to your mailserver.
