How to check network connections generally?

Hi Folks,

How to check Linux server network connections generally?

It's a bit silly question! But I guess there must be some macro-guidelines to check.

Thanks/Jimmy

Yes, it's a very broad question as you say. In fact I meet a problem about linux server network configuration. When I setup an UDP server to listen, it always receives same two pieces of data from udp client. And I confirm the udp client just send out one piece of data to server. In the situation, how do I check the network configuration?

The linux server is configured to bonding with loadbalance mode (eth0/eth1).

Run wireshark/ethereal to capture packets and see what's actually being sent.
