how --- ifconfig eth0 promisc mode


sorry i have a question i think easy ..

if this command

ifconfig eth0 -promisc enable an disable promisc mode
at my NIC ... how can i view witch mode is rigth now

and another

why doesnt happend nothing when i enter

root@server# / iptables -A INPUT -j LOG

i want to visualice all incomings at all the LAN

are you on a switched lan?

use a packet sniffer that puts your nic into promisc mode...

switched LAN

sorry i cant reply normaly ... it never works i have to create a new Thread to answer

yes i am in a switched LAN

but my question is ... is there some option of
ifconfig for view if my NIC is in promisc mode?

and why firewall doesnt display the entries
to my host... i am in the same segment of manyt
windows servers .. anda i dont recive any broadcasr
thath all windows sends...


iptables -A INPUT -j LOG ...

that command why doesnt works?
