How do I get Cox Internet to work on Mandrake Linux?
Hello everyone, I was wondering if any of you out there know how to set up Cox High Speed Internet on Mandrake Linux 9.2. I live in Arizona so that's where our internet is from.
Please don't start two ot three threads for the same issue. It only makes it more difficult to help you.
As for the DHCP setup, therein lies the beauty of DHCP. You don't care. When you bring the interface up, it will send out a DHCP request to which Cox's DHCP servers will reply with a public IP. Have you tried it and received errors? If so, what where they? If not, ...
try running dhclient , are you using any other computers on that cable modem, most cable modems will only give one ip address and then store the mac they gave it to, you might need to cycle the power on the modem for it to give you an ip. I used to work for cox in Phoenix, and on some areas you might need to give them a call to give them your mac address, almost everywhere used to work out of the modem's email address.
